The Jaulian Story
Jaulian
/jô-lēän/
Named after an ancient Buddhist monastery in Taxila, Pakistan, Jaulian -or the “seat of saints” as it literally translates- derives its name from the rich and powerful history of one of the earliest places of learning and enlightenment in the world.
This vision of a community of wisdom and growth inspired the Jaulian Project’s founder, Kanwer A. Saeed who sought to create to an organization that brought together people with the motive of encouraging them to struggle to transform not just themselves but also the communities around them through self awareness, compassion and a deep sense of purpose.

Our Mission

Our Values

Love
To recognize and appreciate value in ourselves, others and the communities that surround us

Compassion
To realize the significance of community and welcome all regardless of borders, race, caste, or boundaries.

Intention Without an “I”
To approach the world around us with purpose and ambition without self-interest and ego.

Vulnerability
To recognize the need for self-awareness and self-enlightenment, be open to new experiences and let ourselves be seen by others

Ancestor’s Wisdom
To use history and cultural wisdom as tools to understand our own consciousness and reclaim our roots and that of those around us.

Dance as an Expression of Joy
To be free in and at ease with our emotions and allow their expression through our bodies

Jaulian: A Poem
The essence, the fragrance of a being can be sensed, the aura felt
The essence of Jaulian is centered in love
Love beyond boundaries
Love for the earth, for her soil, and from that, her living beings
The heart that trembles in compassion
And that yearns to end suffering
The wounds that make us human
Are the same wounds that bind us world over
The suffering we see without
Is the suffering we see within
Centuries of pillage, of injustice
Yet lives the indigenous wisdom of the mother, the land
It is dance that embodies
The joy of linking one heart to another to another
That heals us
So that we may heal the Earth
